Are you thinking what I'M THINKING???

In the Food and Beverage Industry, we have it tough tough TOUGH! From drunk bar guests, nepotism, staff sleeping with each other to manager's stealing. We deal with every "cream of the crop" in our society. So tell me, how was your shift??? Anything exciting happening we should all know about? I'm ready when you are!!! Tell Auntie Lisa!

  1. OH Auntie Lisa! Last week my fellow co-workers and I had a week of HELL! The Fort Worth Convention Center held the Delta Sigma Theta Regional Conference. So you're probably thinking awesome sorority girls = $$$... not so fast. More like a bunch of Southern Canadian sorority girls. OH LORD! Whether I was hosting or serving, it was HELL!!! While I host, I got the never ending "Do you gots burgers here??" COME ON!!! Apparently they couldn't read since they just walked into a STEAKHOUSE, a fine steakhouse at that. Another questions was, "What are ya'll known for?" Well ya know it does say steak house in our title.... so I dunno maybe steak! In order to keep up with the stampede of Canadians stompin their way thru the front doors, I kept a pile of menus in good reach, since most just stood their for 10 minutes trien to find something they could afford and then realize they can't and walk out.

As a server, it got worse! Let's just say we cut lemons as if it were a Friday and Saturday night. They either ordered the usual app or salad and LOTS of bread. But in the rare occasion they did get a steak , usually the ribeye, it would be ordered WELL! Which if you've ever ordered a steak well it will take at least 25 minutes. So of course they would complain about the time and once the steak came out, they would send it back, "This steak is not cooked well enoughh." So you smile trying not to strangle them and walk away knowing, "There goes my $5." It was horrible, I felt so bad for a server who made less than $25 on a Friday night. That's crazy!

It was funny though at times... One lady asked a server, "What type of beef is in the Beefsteak tomato and red onion salad?" Seriously.. hahaha. My fellow server had to hold in the laughter and try to explain that there is none and that its a type of tomato.

I could go on about the week of "Oh I would just like tea and lots of lemon please." or "I'll just have a white zin." It was a memorable week to say the least, one my fellow employees and I will remember, but will always dread when we learn they are returning.
